Inca is transformed into a huge open street market

Events Dijous Bo

Inca is known for its leather factories and its festivals in the autumn, which culminate on the third Thursday of November with the Dijous Bo (Good Thursday). It is a market with hundreds of island products visited by numerous locals and tourists. On the evening before, the streets are filled with people who, despite the cold, enjoy the ambience of one of the largest markets in Mallorca. If you are on the Balearic Islands at this time: the Dijous Bo is waiting for you!

In the autumn, Inca celebrates four great festivals, the first on Sunday after the Sant Lluc day on October, 18th, followed by two more on the next two Sundays. The last of these festivals is Dijous Bo, the most important and best visited of these four festivals. For some historians, the origin of this festival dates back to a medieval market visited by farmers from the whole island to buy and sell cattle and goods.

On this day you will find hundreds of stands of craftsmen and traders of all sectors: agricultural machinery, leather goods, olives and pickled cucumbers, jam, cold-pressed olive oil, cheese, ceramics and pottery, Mallorcan embroidery, stone and woodwork, jewelry, etc. During the days before the festival and on the day of the festival itself, you can participate in parallel activities, such as wine and product tasting, fashion shows, music performances, performances, exhibitions, guided tours and workshops for the children.

You will discover the rural character of the festivities at the Plaça des Bestiar. On this square the cattle breeders organize an exhibition of live animals on which the magnificent specimens of the porc negre, the native black pig, cannot be missing. With their meat the best sausages of Mallorca, as the sobrasada, are prepared.

And if you have the opportunity, do not miss the eve of the feast, the Dimecres Bo or Good Wednesday. You can enjoy all types of street food at the stalls, such as crêpes, waffles, traditional fried sausages, hot dogs or hot chocolate with churros (pastry biscuits). There is also a fairground with games for children.

You can use your visit to Inca to visit one of the numerous outlets with leather goods and make purchases. Or to enjoy the best traditional cuisine in the cellers, the old wine cellars converted into restaurants.

Thanks to the numerous visitors - this day is a holiday in the entire Raiguer region - you can consider the following option: travel comfortably on the train from the Estación Intermodal de Palma, on the Plaça d'Espanya to Inca, avoiding traffic jams parking problems.
