Every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday morning, the Plaça d'Espanya square transforms Llucmajor into its market. It is good opportunity to stroll between the stalls of fresh products (many of the fields of this area) and immerse in the atmosphere of the place.

On Friday, in addition to the regular market, a flea market is installed on Jaume III and Bisbe de Taixequet streets. At this flea market you can find products, clothes, accessories, antiques from craftsmanship to second hand products…

The history of this market has its origins in 1542, when Llucmajor asked the Court for permission to organize a permanent weekly market, as Inca and Sineu already had. Emperor Charles V gave the appropriate permission in 1543, but then Inca objected to the competition caused by Llucmajor. Three years later the legal verdict fell in favor of Llucmajor, which could begin with the commercial activity.

Traditionally, the Llucmajor market was held on Wednesdays (it was later extended to Friday and Sunday). Likewise, a large agricultural fair is celebrated from 29 September to 18 October.

The markets have also been extended to other villages such as S'Arenal (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays), Sa Torre (Thursdays), and Badia Gran and Las Palmeras (Saturdays).

There are quite a few sights that complement the market of Llucmajor. Apart from the coast with important tourist centers (S'Arenal, Cala Pi ...), the town also has a rich historical heritage: the Talayotic settlement of Capocorb Vell, the sanctuary of the Virgen de Gracia (end of the 15th century) or San Bonaventura Church (17th century).
