One of our islands’ biggest attractions is their natural surroundings. Mountains, fields, open sea, land, sand are elements you can enjoy almost all year round thanks to our geographic position.

In Majorca we have a range of natural resources with suitable accessibility, enabling anyone to enjoy sporting and recreational activities. Along with technical assistance and suitable equipment, this makes Majorca an ideal destination for enjoying sport in the open air on your own or in the company of your loved ones.

Golf, Water skiing, Hiking, Land yachting, Kayaking, Sailing and Diving are just some of the sports you can practice thanks to the availability of adapted equipment for people with special requirements.

Enjoy an outing in a sailing boat around the bay of Palma in the morning and in the afternoon watch the sun set in the heart of the Tramuntana mountains. This is just the appetiser of a unique holiday, enjoying your capacities on our island accompanied by your loved ones.

The Handisport Foundation has appropriate equipment for practising these sports in Majorca:

Accessible sailing: Dam 5.5 group boats that allow the user to control the rudder from the centre of the boat in a firm seat and have a higher than usual boom to avoid blows when the wind direction changes. These boats also have a heavily-ballasted keel that makes it almost impossible for them to capsize. The view over the Bay of Palma and the Cathedral from the sea is stunning.

Land sailing: if you like sailing and enjoy feeling the wind in your face, try this new land-based sensation. Land sailing, also known as land yachting, is very popular in France, and in Majorca you can do it at Binissalem aerodrome in the centre of the island.

Water skiing: a leisure activity for enjoying the sea. The adapted ski is attached directly to the boat so that people who have reduced mobility in their upper limbs or do not have them can easily enjoy it and it is totally safe. It is fitted with a central seat that supports you for greater safety and comfort.

Golf: Do you want to enjoy the winter in Majorca on one of our golf courses? Son Muntaner and Golf Maioris have classes for people with disabilities. If you already play golf and have reduced mobility, Paragolfer vehicles are available so you can enjoy your swing in a standing position.

Every year the International Disabled Open is held in Majorca with players from all over the world with different types of disability gathering to compete.

Diving: adapted diving is widespread all over the world, and why not try it in the waters of the Mediterranean? The Handisport Foundation has chairs to facilitate immersion from the beach. Thanks to the number of adapted beaches in Majorca, it is very easy to enjoy different dive sites. The underwater setting gives you a feeling of weightlessness, thus eliminating many barriers and making it an ideal environment to enjoy your capacities. You can enjoy diving in Santa Ponsa, Port Adriano and La Bugambilia.

Kayaking: a water sport that will surprise you. Majorca has some K4 boats used as K2s so that you can enjoy this activity which is practiced in confined water or off beaches. Whether you are a beginner or not, specialised monitors will always accompany you. People with sensory disabilities are accompanied by interpreters for deaf people or sighted guides depending on their needs. For people with limited grip, gloves are available to help them hold the paddle or oar correctly.

Hiking: finally, there is hiking, passing through the mountains and/or accessing them. The Galatzó Public Estate in Calviá has 3 itineraries that are suitable for doing this activity with the Superfour vehicle. This is an electric wheel chair with 4×4 traction that is controlled with a simple joystick. Its speed is the same as walking pace, allowing people with reduced mobility to enjoy independent and autonomous outings in the mountains.
