HIKING TRAILS ON THE ISLAND OF CABRERAIf you are the type that prefers to explore unique landscapes on foot, the island of Cabrera is also for you. In fact, one of the best ways to discover the flora and fauna of the island is on some of the trails you can find. However, mind you do not forget to wear comfortable shoes.
Below, we will show you the best routes for hiking on the island of Cabrera..
THE LIGHTHOUSE OF N'ENSIOLA (l’Enciola).
This route, of medium / low difficulty, is eleven kilometres long and can usually be completed in about five hours. The route begins at the port and crosses Es Palmador, the Llarg Canal, the Lighthouse Viewpoint and, lastly, arrives at l'Enciola lighthouse. At the lighthouse, you can enjoy views of the sea merging into the sky on the horizon.
NA PICASMOSQUES.
It is a route of medium / high difficulty, eleven kilometres in length and of three hours duration. This itinerary is guided, since it involves a climb to the highest point of the island, at 172 metres. The views from this point are spectacular: of the port, of Llebeig cove and of the lighthouse of l'Enciola. Departures are from the port of Palmador.
THE SES FIGUERES CHANNEL MOUNTAIN RANGE.
It is a route of medium difficulty, 8.5 kilometres long and of two and a half hours duration. Like the previous route, it is guided, so we recommend that you previously find out about the availability of the guides who organize it. This tour starts at the port, crosses the Ses Figueres mountain range, where you can rest, and goes down to the Codolar de l'Imperial and the Na Bellamirada crossing..
THE CASTLE.
The level of difficulty is low, the distance is 1.5 kilometres and you can walk it in about an hour. What is special about this route are the unique views of the Tramuntana Mountain Range and Arta mountains of Mallorca.
SES SITGES.
Of medium / high difficulty, this route covers nine kilometres and takes three hours. This route allows you to see the most hidden parts of the island while enjoying a peaceful and pleasant walk, passing through Ganduf Cove, Santa Maria Cove, Caló des Forn and Caló des Palangrers until you reach Ses Sitges.
LA MIRANDA.
This route is of medium difficulty, with a six kilometre walk and a duration of two hours. It is a guided route, so it is advisable to visit the information office in advance. The stages of the route are from the road to the port to Can Feliu, passing through the lime kiln and the juniper forest on the Miranda hillside, to the top of the Miranda or Na Bellamirada.
THE MUSEUM, THE GARDEN AND THE MONUMENT TO THE FRENCH PRISONERS.
This itinerary covers three kilometres in an hour and a half. The difficulty is low. On this walk you will learn about the traditional ways of life on the island, pass by the monument to the French prisoners, the botanical garden, the winery (current ethnographic museum), the local houses of the period and a long etcetera.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL VISIT.
Of low difficulty, 1.5 kilometres long and one hour duration. On this route you will find the three points of archaeological interest on the island: the Byzantine necropolis, the fish salting deposits and the camp structures of the French soldiers. It also crosses Sa Platgeta and the purple dye production workshop.
