The mark of Guillem Sagrera
This chapel is located in the place called El Socorrador in medieval documents, a peripheral area of the city. It maintained a close relationship with the brotherhood of Sant Miquel or ‘of the converts’.
The single-nave building was erected at the instance of bishop Gil Sánchez Muñoz – the Antipope Clement VIII of Avignon -, and on one of the keystones the bishop’s coat of arms can be seen. Guillem Sagrera and Huguet Barxa intervened on the construction. Hardly anything remains of the original building, except for the Gothic portal, which bears traces of Sagrera’s work.
In 1544 the Augustinian monks moved their foundation inside the city, and at first the Chapel of Nostra Dona de Gràcia provided them with shelter, and later became an annexe of their Baroque church.
