Dry-mounted stone platform that is hidden among the brush to catch thrushes with a net or ‘filat’.

‘Coll de tords’ is the name given to a traditional thrush-hunting technique. It involves the construction of a low oblong platform made with dry-mounted stone on a narrow space between two trees. Passing between them is further hindered by the placing of pine tree branches on the sides. Folk wisdom would point to the spots where birds would congregate, either at dawn or dusk, which would also need to provide a good hiding place for the hunter.

The birds would be captured with a ‘filat’, a thin net (formerly woven with cotton but now made with nylon) fastened to a frame made of canes. Birds would become ensnared in them in mid-flight.

The traditional thrush hunting season starts in October and ends in March.
