The Travessa, as the crossing of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range is known, is one of the most spectacular routes in Majorca. Also known as the Ruta de la Pedra en Sec (Dry Stone Route), it crosses the mountain range from west to east along the GR 221 path, which runs through a large part of the Serra de Tramuntana.

The route is divided into several stages, although there are many different ways to go. For this reason, there is a network of mountain refuges with services for overnight stays during the crossing. You can stay in a traditional urban house with an oil mill, such as the Refugi Can Boi, in old Majorcan possessions, such as Tossals Verds or Son Amer, or in public buildings converted into accommodation, such as the old telegraph station in Muleta or the Refugi Pont Romà in Pollença.
