"Made in Majorca" shopping

Urban Adventures invites you to take a stroll through the old quarter of Palma and discover Majorcan culture and traditions through its handicrafts. You'll be taken to centuries-old hidden shops where you'll meet the local artisans who create a wide variety of local products, such as straw baskets, footwear, pottery or pearl jewellery.

Not only will you be able to purchase wonderfully authentic souvenirs, but you'll also be offered a traditional Majorcan aperitif and learn about the fascinating history of our beautiful island.

Majorca has an enviable craft culture that has survived thanks to the proud local craftsmen who keep these ancient traditions alive.

On this shopping route, you'll visit shops that are over a century old, specialising in unique products made in Majorca. Many of these shops remain family businesses.

One of the first stops is near the meeting point, where you'll have the chance to appreciate the different varieties of traditional basket and other handmade wicker products. The tour continues in the old Jewish quarter, where you'll visit a pearl shop and discover why pearls are so popular.

As you stroll through the ancient narrow streets, you'll come to a shoe shop to learn about the different types of shoes made in the Balearic Islands, their history and their traditional usage.

From there, you'll visit a pottery shop, where you'll discover their pots, pans, casserole dishes, fruit bowls, oil cruets, jugs and ladles, all made with clay from the charming village of Pòrtol in a factory run by the same family for five generations.

And a journey exploring Majorca's most famous products would not be complete without a gastronomic experience! You'll stop at one of the oldest bakeries in the city, where you can taste the famous ensaïmada.

After finishing your Made in Majorca route, don't forget to ask your local guide for advice on which restaurants to visit and which secret spots to check out.

Please note that this itinerary is subject to change. As most of these shops are small family businesses, they sometimes alter their opening hours. If this is the case, you'll visit other nearby shops and places of interest nearby with similar vibes.
