Museum Fundació Museu Regional d'Artà

This is a typical 18th century Mallorcan house in which a collection of Talayotic remains from nearby excavations has been installed.

The museum consists of three differentiated sections. The ethnology section includes diverse objects such as Mallorcan clothes, spinning implements and a complete collection of palm-working tools (for making baskets, brooms, cord) manufactured in the county. The natural history section is made up of a collection of birds and insects, marine and land molluscs, fossils, etc. Finally, the archaeology section contains a wide variety of pottery, bronze, iron, bone and other objects belonging to different periods of Mallorcan prehistory, above all from the pre-Talayotic and Talayotic periods.

The museum also features a section devoted to the village’s natural history. It is located on the second floor. It was opened in 1927. The collections are from private donations, from the archaeological excavations the museum carried out and the collection of fauna and flora which Llorenç Garcías i Font, one of its founders, gathered.
