Cultural Space
Kristian Krekovic, a Croatian painter born in 1901, based himself in Mallorca in 1960 after an intense journey through Latin American culture. From that moment, he dedicated himself to studying Spanish and Balearic culture and reflected our history and customs in his paintings. On 21 November 1985, he died at his home in Palma.
The Krekovic Museum was officially opened in 1981. It contains portraits that are, for the most part, dedicated to the past and present of the Incas.
It is comprised of three rooms in which 150 pictorial works are found, most of them extremely large. The first room is dedicated to the Inca Empire and civilizations. The second, to Spain, in particular the Balearic Islands, and to the American dimension. And the third, to Peru, past and present, and to World Peace. There are also display cases showing samples of the Peruvian indigenous culture.
