Visit a potter´s workshop and create your own piece

If you visit the small village Pòrtol, you can learn the secrets of pottery in a workshop that has seen five generations of pottery masters. A room that preserves the mud walls and the old machines, with which thousands of pieces have been created. With the help of a master, you will learn how to handle the swivel chair, how to model and make some basic shapes. The master will introduce you to the mysteries of clay.

Pottery has a centuries-old tradition in Mallorca. It was developed by all the civilizations that populated the island. Since the 18th century, in the villages of Pòrtol and Sa Cabaneta, thanks to their red earth, there are numerous workshops in which craftsmen, as in the past, create pots, flower pots, plates, mugs and the old siurells, pipes with human, animal or devilish shapes.
