The wine cellars of Majorca: routes and activities

One of the attractions of travelling to the capital of the Balearic Islands is visiting the wineries of Majorca. If you are a fan of wine tourism and want to know how to enjoy your passion in Majorca, in this article you will find a wide variety of information about its wineries. To make things easier we have grouped the wine cellars of Majorca according to the two denominations of origin that exist: Binissalem and Pla i Llevant. We will give you practical information about the visits and activities available. Read on!

WINE CELLARS OF MAJORCA WITH THE D.O. BINISSALEM


This Majorca Denomination of Origin is part of a wine region in the centre of the island made up of the municipalities of Binissalem: Consell, Santa María del Camí, Santa Eugènia and Sencelles. The Majorcan wineries that produce the wines under this D.O. are the following: 

1. José Luis Ferrer

The Ferrer wine cellar was founded in 1931. It is in Binissalem, in 103 Carrer del Conquistador.Visiting hours vary depending on the day of the week and the season:

- Monday to Friday: from 10:00 to 19:00.

From March to October: Saturdays from 10:00 to 19:00 and Sundays from 10:00 to 15:00.

From November to February: Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00 and closed on Sundays.

Holidays: from 10:00 to 14:00.

Visits include four different tours and tastings: 

- Tradición. It includes, in addition to a guided tour of the wine cellar, a tasting of three selected wines, accompanied by typical Majorcan crackers, Mahon cheese and organic jam from their own grapes.

- Tradición premium. An option where you can try four selected wines.

- Copa en mano. A different type of visit that allows you to taste the wines as you come across them in the cellar.

- Copa en mano premium. This option includes a visit to its Veritas wine cellar with tasting.

In addition to the traditional visits and tastings, they also offer other experiences related to wine tourism, such as their enogastronomic experiences, which include visits and tasting of different typical dishes of the area. They also organise all kinds of events: a train excursion through the vineyards, an oenological tasting with their specialist oenologists and a special menu prepared by a prestigious chef from the island. 2. Bodegas Biniagual

The Biniagual wine cellar is situated in the village with the same name, in Camí de Muro 11, and originated in the mid-60s.

This wine cellar offers 3 types of visits:

Visit to the cellar and the barrel room, wine tasting and pairing with extra virgin olive oil from the cellar itself and Majorcan bread.

Visit to the cellar and the barrel room, wine tasting and pairing with ham, Majorcan cheese, coca de trampó and bread.

Visit to the town of Biniagual, the cellar and the barrel room, wine tasting and pairing with a variety of typical products.

3. Bodega Vins Nadal Albaflor

Also, in Binissalem, in Calle de Ramón Llull, 2, is this wine cellar that you can visit as a group during the following opening times:

- Monday to Friday: from 9:00 to 14:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00.

Saturdays: from 10:00 to 14:00.

This cellar offers 5 types of visits and tastings to its facilities: Sarmiento, Pámpano, Racimo, Entreviñas and Celler. You can find information about what each one includes here.

In addition, you can enjoy their tasting workshops or the many cultural events they organise, such as concerts and plays.

4. Bodega Tianna Negre

To get here you will have to go to Cami Des Mitjans en Binissalem. You can visit its facilities from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 18:00, also enjoying three types of tastings:

- Basic: guided tour of the wine cellar, tasting of 3 wines and tasting of typical products.

- Special:  Guided tour of the cellar, tasting of 5 wines and tasting of typical products.

- Premium: guided tour of the wine cellar, tasting of 6 wines, tasting of typical products and more (tasting of Vermouth, coffee and herb liqueur, etc.).

5. Bodega Antonio Nadal

This wine cellar is situated in Camino de Son Roig s/n, Carrer de Son Morro, 28. To visit these facilities and the vineyards of Son Roig, located in Selva, you will have to go from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 18:00 or make an appointment for the weekend. 

The wine cellar also organises tastings and gastronomic workshops in which you will have the opportunity to taste the gastronomy of Majorca together with the wines of Antonio Nadal.

6. Bodega Antonio Ramanyà

Located in Camino de los Coscois, 16, Santa María, it  offers you the opportunity to visit its facilities and the surroundings of the farm through a basic tour and a pairing tour. You will taste a selection of its wines paired with typical products and it also includes a visit to the Ethnographic Collection of Ancient Trades of Majorca. For more information visit the website.

WINE CELLARS OF MAJORCA OF D.O. PLA I LLEVANT

This D.O. Pla i Llevant de Mallorca was created in 1999 and includes 19 municipalities: Algaida, Ariany, Artà, Campos, Capdepera, Felanitx, Llucmajor, Manacor, Maria de la Salut, Montuïri, Muro, Petra, Porreres, Sant Joan, Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, Santa Margalida, Santanyi , Sineu and Vilafranca de Bonany. There are 13 registered wine cellars and 70 winegrowers and 444 hectares of cultivated vineyards. 

These are some of the wine cellars:

1. Bodega Vi Rei

This cellar is located in Llucmajor (CR Cabo Blanco km 25,4), it is open from Monday to Sunday from 10:00 to 19:00 and can be visited in different ways: guided tours, tastings, train ride through the facilities and picnics in the vineyard itself. You can also mix and match these activities as you prefer.

It also has its own hotel and offers some very interesting experiences, such as blind tastings and pairings with typical Majorcan products. For more information visit the website.


2. Bodega Miquel Oliver

This wine cellar is in Carretera Petra-Santa Margalida, 18 km, in Petra. You can visit it during the following opening hours:

Monday to Friday: from 10:00 to 18:00.

Saturdays: from 11:00 to 13:30. 

This wine cellar offers 4 types of visits:

Emotive, which includes a visit to the wine cellars reviewing their history and that of the family, as well as the vineyards and a tasting of three wines.

Enologic, which focuses on the vineyards and the new winery and gives you a taste of three of its best wines.

- Tapas, in which you will taste five wines and a selection of Majorcan tapas.

Gastronomic, with which you can enjoy a pairing of five wines with typical dishes from the area.
