Winery Terramoll

Situated in the lovely La Mola, in the highest part of Formentera where there is a special relationship between land and climate, and a region of the island with differentiating characteristics. The La Mola lighthouse presides majestically on the cliff top and in winter portrays itself as a solitary and beautiful landmark.

It is in these privileged surroundings that the Terramoll winery decided to elaborate quality wines on the island of Formetnera back in the year 2000 –a risky decision which has paid off.

The farm has 40 hectares standing 200 metres above sea level, twelve of which are used for the cultivation of Malvasia, Moscatel and white Garnach, Macabeu and Viognier. For the red varieties, they have chosen Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. They purchase Monastrell from a number of local farmers and in the future they hope to increase their production to 25 hectares.

The winery has brought to fruition a project for the elaboration of white wine using the Viognier variety recently authorised by the Council of Agriculture. This new wine promises to be another success for the Terramoll technical team which has managed to cleverly unite the aromatic potential of the French variety with the Mediterranean Malvasia. In short, Terramoll represents a serious project reflecting the island’s new age of creativity and tradition and one which will attract great attention.
