Modern and contemporary art stands out in the museums of Mallorca in large collections of renowned artists such as Picasso, Dalí, Joan Miró and Toulouse-Lautrec, among others, as well as artists linked to the island, such as Santiago Rusiñol, Joaquim Mir or Joan Fuster. In this sense, the Juan March Foundation, the Can Prunera Museum and the Es Baluard are three must-sees that cannot be missing from your list if you want to enjoy the best Spanish art of the last centuries.

History museums are also a very important part of the cultural offering of the island. Places like the Mallorca Museum, the Castell de Bellver Museum or the Museum of Decorative Arts, to name a few, will allow you to get to know Mallorca's historical and cultural heritage through the centuries in depth through archeology, sculpture, painting, jewelry, furniture and toys.

ETHNOLOGICAL MUSEUMS

In addition to these, another typology of considerable significance is ethnographic and ethnological museums. Thanks to spaces like the Cosme Bauçà Foundation, the Etnològic de Muro Museum, the Museum of Footwear and Leather or Museu del Fang (Museum of Ceramics) you can learn about the traditional trades in the area, most notably the blacksmith, cobbler, potter and silversmith; their everyday utensils and tools; and ultimately, how the inhabitants of the island and surrounding areas lived in the past.

RELIGIOUS MUSEUMS

 
Sacred art also occupies a prominent place. The Monestir Miramar Museum, the Diocesà de Mallorca Museum and the Museum of the Cathedral are mandatory stops for those interested in seeing the main religious buildings of Mallorca and the artistic collections that they house.

MUSEUM HOUSES

Finally, we cannot forget the Museum Houses of writer Llorenç Villalonga, one of the most important writers from Mallorca in the last century; the painter Dionis Bennàssar, which houses much of his artistic legacy and Fray Junipero Serra, a truly characteristic example of the typical houses of the peasantry in the area in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
